Description
This light and spirited wind chime is tuned to a musical scale called saih gender wayang, which originates from the playful music of the shadow puppet play on the South Pacific island of Bali, Indonesia. This scale comes alive with each movement of the wind. Gamelan gender wayang is a style of music played in Bali. In 2003, UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) designated Wayang Kulit, a shadow puppet theater and the best-known of the Indonesian wayang, as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in an effort to help preserve this aspect of Indonesian heritage. Gamelan music of Bali is also revered and preserved through Gamelan Giri Mekar, a Balinese musical group in residence at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY, made possible by a loan of instruments by Woodstock Chimes founder Garry Kvistad. With our Chimes of Bali, you can bring the lively sounds of South Pacific arts and theater to your home or garden.

    Love these chimes!

    I bought these chimes as a gift for my father. I have 4 different types of Woodstock Chimes and love them all. So much better than other chimes I have purchased. My first set was a gift and I have been hooked ever since. The quality is great and they make beautiful music.

    Chimes of Bali

    I have had this wind chime for over 28 years. It was a gift from my sister when I moved into my then new place. Just today the string broke holding the middle part and I am going to try and fix it myself.
