The unmistakable sound of this chime is musically tuned to notes derived from the proportion of the Golden Ratio given to us by ancient Greece.This chime's stepped square top and square tube design were inspired by the Craftsman style of architecture popularized during the Arts and Crafts movement.This movement made designs based on the inherent harmony of mathematical proportions and their frequent occurrence in nature, paying homage, once again, to the Golden Ratio. The teachings of William Morris, a leader of the Arts and Crafts movement in England, greatly influenced designs created at the Byrdcliffe Arts Colony here in Woodstock, NY, in the early 20th century. This chime and many of our other products join this lively heritage.

50th birthday gift

I wasn't sure what to get a good friend for this milestone birthday, til I was out in my mom's garden and heard her chimes. I went to the website, last minute shopping, and found this beautiful chime. I loved that the notes were so clean and crystal sounding. Not clang-y or too much, but also not too magical or "fairy garden" sounding. It was perfect! I did pay extra for expedited shipping, which unfortunately still didn't make it on time. But when I contacted Woodstock about the delay in shipping the extra fee was returned no questions asked. I will definitely purchase from Woodstock again in the future, customer service is A+.

Excellent Chime

This is a beautiful instrument! I put it in the house and hung it from a high ceiling. It's a joy to walk by and hear the notes reverberate through my home.

Clapper Need To Be Larger Than What it Is

The clapper is not larger enough to touch the tubes to create a melody. Too far apart. It will take hurricane force winds for the clapper to touch the tubes to create any melody. I'm not sure how or why this particular chime received a high rate from other buyers. This definitely needs improving. Not impressed with this product.

Nice sound, not too loud.. Good size too, not too small or large.

This makes my life peaceful

I just bought my second Craftsman black chime, after my first one lost all but 2 of it's chimes, AFTER 5 YEARS! That is an outstanding number of years for a year-round patio chime.
I shopped the site for a week, listening to at least 100 different chimes, and THIS ONE hit my ears JUST RIGHT. The sound is deep and ongoing, resonating through the air long after the initial strike of the chime. The tuning is exquisite, with each tune bringing a smile to my face and a sigh of relief to my brain.
I will always buy this particular chime, but, after another 2 day 'listening search' and after listening to about 50 chimes, I found another chime I love, called 'Amazing Grace' small, bronze, and I got it too this time.
These are gift-worthy and anyone but a grumpy old codger would love to have a Woodstock wind chime!
Do yourself a favor and take the time to LISTEN to as many chimes as you can, spend days, go back and listen again, until your ears tell you you've found your perfect match!
