Magical Mystery Chimes - Space Odyssey

$192.99

Must be heard! Special acoustic effect makes "2001" sound like a million!

Our Magical Mystery Chimes feature a musical phenomenon known as octave doubling. Here's how it works - you remember the Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Ti-Do scale from The Sound of Music? The "Do" notes that come at the start and end of this scale are the same note, an octave apart. Notes separated by an octave are considered harmonically equivalent and "ring" together in a way that adds a pleasing sound to the music. Our Magical Mystery Chimes take this theory to the extreme - each note of the chime is matched with its "octave double." Never before used in windchimes, this special tuning heightens the harmonics, creating a song that must be heard to be believed.

Our Space Odyssey Chime is tuned to the intervals of the first notes of the famous symphonic poem, Also sprach Zarathustra by Richard Strauss, more commonly known as the powerful musical opening to Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film "2001: A Space Odyssey". The chime-within-a-chime design couples notes, in four octaves which exponentially increases the soundscape and quadruples the octave doubling effect!

This is my most recent chime purchase.

We gifted ourselves each anniversary with a new set of chimes for a number of years and this has been our favorite yet. Hung it on our porch where we often sit w/ friends n share music. Seems appropriate💓 Really appreciate the quality of all the chimes we’ve gotten here . Thank you

    A well deserved gift

I have been wanting this wind chime for years. Every Mother’s Day, it was the only gift I ever asked for. I loved to listen to test audio over and over. It was so exciting to hear the double octaves! Always wondering, does it sound like that in real life…. I finally got one. My ears are in love, excited for the next wave of air. I can’t wait to get the Westminster Abby bells next!! The sound of music.

    There are no words…

At first I thot it was gonna be too loud to be right up on my frount porch, but it’s not! It’s heavey, so the wind doesn’t move it a lot. When it does , because of its weight, it’s just right. Wish I had better words to described it
