Description

This product includes 20 feet of black 130-gauge braided Terylene string for use with chime tops measuring 8.25 inches in diameter. Please choose the string gauge appropriate to your chime's top dimensions. Either black or tan-colored string can be used.

The string's life depends on the amount of UV exposure and the strength of the winds where your chime is hanging. Under normal conditions, it should last 7-8 years.

Good String

I have two of the Chimes of Neptune, one on the front porch and one on the back porch. I like to leave my chimes hanging up all the time no matter how hard the Texas wind here blows so about once every couple years I have to restring the chime on the front porch where the wind does its worst. The string is the same as the original string it had when I got the chimes new. I also kept the instructions how to string the chime so I do it right. The string is easy to use and looks perfect when I'm done restringing my chime. Of course the string can only take so much abuse from our wind and usually it will last about a year or year and a half before breaking. I really appreciate that you sell replacement parts for your chimes, instructions and have a phone number to call if I have any problems.

Re-lacing a wind chime.

Why did Woodstock Chimes discontinue their re-lacing service?

I very much would have preferred to mailed in the wind chime and pay Woodstock Chimes to perform the re-lacing. I never again intend to re-lace a wind chime as it took too much effort.
Going forward, when the strings break, I will throw out the entire chimes and purchase another wind chime from which ever other company I see first.
