Capiz are farmed in Indonesia and every bit is used. The pieces are carefully sorted, dried, sliced, shaped, sanded and dyed. The thin, flat translucent pieces of capiz provide a luminous color.
In the 1500s, capiz were used as windowpanes in houses; now they are used in all sorts of home decorations, including lampshades vases, and (of course) windchimes!
This product is handcrafted with pride by artisans in Bali, therefore sizes can vary.
I love the capiz chimes as not too loud on windy days in Western NY. The purple color is great and doesn't fade in the summer sun.
These chimes are absolutely beautiful- sound color and design! They were a gift and the birthday girl was thrilled!
All three sets and chimes I've purchased have been phenomenal. Two sets are on the porch and bring me sensor deep piece daily, off and in the mornings and evenings at night. One set is in a shaded area on the side of the house dedicated to some loved ones. Who've passed on, a couple recently and very untimely. Untimely. The chimes along with it beautiful wrought iron cut out of their silhouettes together have been transcendently comforting. Woodstock is my go-to for all things wind chime, and wind chimes are profoundly helping us to heal.
